Explainer: Eastern Zone ‘Single Card’ Policy
The nine (9) associations of HNL’s Eastern Zone recently adopted a ‘Single Card’ policy for 2024-25 and future seasons. One player, one team.
Minor Divisions
- In new Minor season structure, A, B, C Divisions will be scheduled under www.DJHL.ca
- Associations will select A, B, and / or C teams in U11, U13, and U15 for regular season and graded for year-end HNL Provincial Tournaments
- Following tryouts and selection of A, B, and / or C teams, remaining players rostered on Metro Club Hockey League (MCHL) teams for regular season and year-end Eastern Zone Regional Championships
- Eastern Zone associations will no longer select additional teams beyond initial All Star selection phase
Girls Divisions
- Eastern Zone female players can choose to register in Minor divisions per above, or Girls divisions
- Girls teams will play in the Metro Girls Hockey League (U11, U13, U15, U18)
Exceptions
- Junior and high school leagues are exempt – Eastern Zone players are permitted to join a school team in addition to their regular season team
- Team selection process for Minor U18 teams participating in HNL Provincial Tournaments is TBD, details will be shared when available
Impact on AMHA players
- No post-Christmas tryouts for ‘development teams’
- AMHA tryout process will select minimum 2 teams in each age group; U11, U13, and U15
- Selected teams placed in A, B, or C Divisions per Technical Director and AMHA evaluators’ assessment
- Initial registration deadline applies to players trying out for A, B, C teams only – register by 10 PM September 3-no exceptions!
- AMHA will continue to accept registration for U7 / U9 and U11, U13, U15, and U18 MCHL players beyond September 3- final registration deadline dates will be published in advance
