We can hardly contain our excitement as we approach the launch pad for an exciting 2022-23 season!  We have made improvements to DF Barnes Arena, namely higher 60″ and 77″ glass throughout the ice surface!  We hope players and spectators appreciate the improved playability and safety.

This News Post will provide some high-level guidance to our members as we approach online registration opening, tryouts, etc.

Online Registration, Recreational Divisions

  • Projected date for online registration opening – August 27
  • New and returning AMHA members can register for Recreational divisions (U7, U9, U11, U13, U15, U18) via TeamSnap registration form
  • AMHA Recreational Divisions start estimated October 8
  • We strongly encourage members to register as soon as possible, we cannot guarantee a roster spot for late registrants after September 30
  • Camp Add On: AMHA is finalizing details for a 6 hour Camp for U9, U11, U13, U15, and Female Divisions – details and times will be launched with online registration form (3 weeks x 2 hours per week, approx. Sept 17 through October 7)

U11 All Star

  • Players must register for base U11 fee and add tryout fee when online registration opens approx. August 27
  • Tryouts will start approximately September 17
  • Avalon Celtics U11A team will be selected in time to participate in Paradise Ice-Breaker Tournament on October 7-9 weekend
  • Players released from this tryout process will be placed in U11 Recreational division, no additional registration required

U13 All Star

  • We encourage families in this division to read and understand the News Post from Don Johnson Hockey League; https://djhl.ca/news.php?news_id=11203
  • This News post details changes to the AAA / AA U13 leagues in effect for the 2022-23 season
  • Deadline to register for U13 AAA tryout is August 20 (Registration Link)
  • HNL is operating a provincial U13 AAA league with 3 pooled teams from Eastern Zone – tryout dates September 10-22
  • For 2022-23 season, DJHL will not offer typical AA pooled league
  • Players choosing to not try out for U13 AAA or those released from this tryout WILL have time to register with AMHA and tryout for Avalon Celtics U13 competitive team (or teams depending on registration numbers)
  • Players released from Avalon Celtics U13 All Star tryout will be placed in U13  recreational division, no additional registration required

U15 All Star

  • Please refer to News Post from Don Johnson Hockey League; https://djhl.ca/news.php?news_id=11203 detailing 2022-23 season update for U15AAA and U15AA
  • Deadline to register for U15 AAA tryout is August 20 (Registration Link)
  • HNL is operating a provincial U15 AAA league with 2 pooled teams from Eastern Zone
  • DJHL is operating a 4 team pooled U15AA league – tryout dates are September 19-28
  • Players choosing to not try out for U15 AAA / AA or those released from these tryouts WILL have time to register with AMHA and tryout for Avalon Celtics U15 competitive team (or teams depending on registration numbers)
  • Players released from Avalon Celtics U15 All Star tryout will be placed in U15 recreational division, no additional registration required

Female Hockey

  • AMHA is committed to growing Female hockey and 2022-23 will be no different!
  • We are finalizing plans for Female hockey offering and additional details will be announced prior to online registration opening
  • For competitive Female hockey, the Don Johnson Hockey League is returning this season with a 4-Team U13 AA pooled league and a new 4 team U15AA pooled league

  • Registration deadline for DJHL Female pooled divisions is August 31 with tryouts September 19-October 1
