Job Title:  Arena Operator (Part Time/Casual)
Reports to:  General Manager

 

Role Summary

The Arena Operator will ensure the smooth daily operation of the arena. They will be responsible for cleaning the ice between groups plus monitoring equipment to ensure machinery is functioning properly. The operator will also engage directly with clientele to ensure a high level of customer service.


Primary Responsibilities

Maintenance 

  • Oversee the evening ice activity and engage with clientele to ensure all needs are met
  • Conduct regular checks of the facility to identify safety risks for customers and facility
  • Cleaning duties include sweeping dressing rooms/bench areas/bleachers/bathrooms & showers plus ensuring walkways and front entrance area are free of litter. Snow clearing when applicable
  • Bathroom cleaning and disinfecting of high traffic areas as per arena protocol
  • Become familiar with COVID-19 protocol and enforce where necessary ie. Mask wearing, logbook entries, physical distancing, etc…

Supervision & Administration 

  • Receive facility booking information
  • Document booking information, collect cash and issue receipts to patrons as required
  • Ensure that all receivables are collected, in full, prior to the groups start time, issuing receipts to customers, and maintaining accurate record of payments for bookings in the appropriate place
  • Greet all groups/customers in a professional and friendly manner
  • Ensure that all groups start and finish on time
  • Provide emergency first-aid to injured customers
  • Ensure that machinery updates are provided to the supervisor

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent 
  • Minimum of 6 months customer service experience
  • Criminal record check 
  • Certificates for CPR/First Aid/AED are required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Functional computer knowledge an asset ie. navigating websites, email accessible

 

Working Conditions

Flexible hours are required for this position; shift work will include evenings and weekends. This position requires a great deal of working alone so strong understanding of policies and procedures is required. Lifting objects of up to 50lbs is part of the daily routine. Employees are expected to have the appropriate attire.
